Start where you are, do what you can. A guide to consistency and incremental gains

Happy new year everyone! I'm not a fan of new years resolutions, as they tend to be difficult to keep the faith with and fade over time.

I prefer a focus on the next step and the next goal, with a view on 'why' these goals mean something to me, and who it is helping me to become.

With that in mind, it's important to set yourself up for success and realise that you are only ever competing against yourself and who you were yesterday. So, start wherever you happen to be and use that as a base for development!

Do what you can, here and now. However small the action, any step in the right direction is improvement and will help you take bigger steps over time.

The concept of incremental gains, or Kaizen, means that although progress may be slow, frustrating and hard to see, enjoying the process, embracing the suck at times, and seeing the long term gains will be worth it, and will compound as you build along the way.

Over time, confidence grows. As long as you stick at it, one step, one rep, one set at a time, you will improve! At some point, you will look back over the long haul and see how far you have come, and how much you can do that you previously couldn't.

Take the step, start where you are! If all you can do is crawl, then start crawling!!
